The cottage is ideally situated for walkers and cyclists exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District a little further afield (35 miles). Enjoy a cream tea in the local tea rooms visit Swaledale Woollens where local ladies hand knit beautiful items and have a browse in the excellent Craft Gallery. Keep your ears open for the Muker Silver Band practising in the Literary Institute opposite the cottage each Monday and Friday evening. Relax in the award-winning Farmers Arms pub with its open fire great pub food and real ales - you ll have to drag yourself away! Muker also has a charming village store and tea room serving delicious home made scones cakes and Yorkshire Rarebit. The nearby village of Reeth (10 miles) is home to the Swaledale Museum and the Ice Cream parlour. The bustling town of Hawes is (6 miles) home to the Wensleydale Creamery and the Dales Countryside Museum. This part of the Dales is renowned for spectacular springtime wildflower meadows and features some fabulous walks and bike rides. The Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Dales Trail is a circular route to be done in a car or a bike and is a great introduction to this area. The Swale Trail is a specific bike trail from Grinton (near Reeth) to Keld (around 12 miles long) and is suitable for all ages and abilities. You can even hire electric bikes from the Dales Bike Centre in Grinton.
